Ceramic coating bonds to your clear coat at a molecular level. It does not sit on top of it. The result is chemical resistance, hydrophobic water behaviour, and a gloss depth that wax cannot replicate. What ceramic coating actually does
Ceramic coating is a liquid polymer that, once cured, forms a semi-permanent bond with your vehicle's clear coat. Unlike wax or sealant, it does not sit as a layer on top of the paint. It integrates with the surface at a molecular level and cannot be removed by normal washing.
The coating creates a hard, hydrophobic shell that repels water, resists bird drop etching, reduces iron contamination bonding, and protects against UV oxidation. Day-to-day maintenance becomes significantly easier: contaminants bead and rinse away rather than bonding to the surface.
What ceramic coating does not do: it will not stop rock chips, it will not fill existing scratches, and it will not compensate for paint that has not been properly corrected first. If your paint has swirl marks, they will be locked in under the coating, which is why paint correction and a full decontamination wash are prerequisites for every ceramic coating job we do.
Any ceramic coating applied over imperfect paint is a permanent commitment to imperfect paint. We will not skip the preparation.

What you get
Chemical resistance
Bird droppings, insect acids, and road fallout are less likely to etch through a ceramic-coated surface. The window for cleaning is wider.
Hydrophobic water behaviour
Water beads and sheets off instead of sitting on the paint. Dirt and grime have less to bond to after rain.
UV protection
The coating acts as a barrier against UV oxidation: the process that dulls and fades paint over years of sun exposure.
Easier maintenance
Regular washing removes more contaminants with less effort. The surface stays cleaner between washes.
Depth and gloss
A properly applied ceramic coating enhances the depth and reflectivity of the paint beneath it, particularly visible on dark vehicles.
Authorised installer warranty
Wax is Dead and Black Armour coatings applied by authorised installers carry product warranty. Documentation is provided at handover.
How we apply it
Ceramic coating requires more preparation than the coating itself. The quality of the result depends entirely on the condition of the paint surface before the first drop is applied.

Wash and decontamination
Full foam wash, iron fallout decontamination, and clay bar treatment to strip all bonded surface contamination from the clear coat.

Paint correction (if required)
Any swirl marks, water etching, or fine scratches are corrected by machine polishing before the coating is applied. This stage is non-negotiable: coating over defects locks them in.

Panel wipe
Isopropyl alcohol wipe-down of all surfaces to remove polish oils and residue. The clear coat must be completely clean before coating.

Coating application
The ceramic coating is applied panel by panel in controlled conditions. Each panel is levelled and inspected before moving on.

Cure and inspection
The vehicle is held in controlled conditions during initial cure. A full inspection is completed before handover.

Handover and documentation
You receive care instructions, a record of the products applied, and warranty documentation where applicable.
