Window Tinting
Window Tinting Geelong.
Less heat. Less glare. More comfort. Professional film installation for family cars, daily drivers, and prestige vehicles.
Why it matters
The inside of your car should be comfortable, not a greenhouse.
Window tinting is one of the most practical upgrades you can make to a vehicle driven in the Australian climate. Quality film reduces the heat that builds inside a parked or moving car, cuts glare from harsh sunlight, blocks UV radiation that fades interior surfaces, and improves the overall appearance and privacy of the vehicle. Done correctly with quality film, it is a long-lasting, factory-clean result.
What window tinting does: and what to know before you book
Window tint film is a thin multi-layer laminate applied to the interior surface of your vehicle's glass. The film works by reflecting and absorbing solar energy before it enters the cabin. Higher-quality ceramic and carbon films reject solar heat without compromising visibility as much as older dyed films, and they hold their colour without fading or going purple over time.
All passenger vehicles in Victoria must comply with the Australian Design Rules (ADR) for window tinting. Front side windows must allow a minimum of 35% of visible light to pass through (VLT: Visible Light Transmittance). Rear side windows and the rear windscreen have no VLT restriction for passenger vehicles. Your vehicle's factory glass already has some light-absorbing properties, and this is taken into account when selecting the appropriate film shade for front windows.
The installation process involves cleaning the glass thoroughly, cutting the film precisely to each panel, and applying it without bubbles, dust inclusions, or edge lifts. The film then needs a cure period of several days before it reaches its final clarity (initial haziness or small water pockets during curing are normal and will resolve).
Film longevity depends on film quality and installation standard. A professionally installed premium film will remain stable, clear-edged, and bubble-free for many years. Cheap film from a budget installation tends to delaminate, fade, or purple within 2 to 3 years (particularly in the Australian UV environment).
Factory glass is not neutral (most vehicles already have some built-in tinting). The effective VLT after film is applied accounts for this combination. A professional installation matches your chosen shade correctly to the factory glass of your specific vehicle.

When window tinting makes sense
Tinting is the right choice if:
- Your cabin gets uncomfortably hot in summer (parked or while driving)
- Glare from the sun or low-angle light is a regular driving problem
- You have children, pets, or passengers who are affected by direct sun exposure
- You want more privacy in stop-and-go or urban driving conditions
- Your interior surfaces are fading or you want to slow UV degradation of leather and trim
- You drive a prestige vehicle and want a cleaner, darker exterior appearance
- You have just purchased a vehicle and want it set up for Australian conditions
What tinting delivers
Reduced cabin heat
Quality window film rejects a significant portion of solar energy before it enters the cabin. A vehicle with properly tinted glass is meaningfully cooler when parked in direct sun, and more comfortable to drive into on a summer afternoon.
Glare reduction
Tint reduces the intensity of direct sunlight and glare from wet roads and low-sun driving angles. Cleaner vision in high-glare conditions is a practical, daily benefit (particularly for drivers commuting east in the morning or west in the evening).
UV protection
Quality film blocks the majority of UV-A and UV-B radiation entering through the glass. This protects occupants from UV exposure during extended driving, and slows the fading and cracking of leather, fabric, and plastic interior surfaces.
Privacy
Darker rear windows reduce visibility into the cabin in urban and parking situations. This is relevant for families, those who leave items in the car, and anyone who spends time in stop-and-go traffic in close proximity to other vehicles.
Exterior appearance
A consistent tint across the rear glass gives the vehicle a cleaner, more finished look. This is a visible upgrade that improves the overall exterior profile (particularly on prestige, SUV, and performance vehicles).
Interior preservation
Reducing the amount of UV and infrared energy entering the cabin slows the degradation of interior materials. Leather, fabric, and plastics that would otherwise crack or fade over years are given meaningful additional protection.
How window tinting is installed
A quality tint installation takes time and the right conditions. Rushed installations produce bubbles, dust inclusions, and edge lifts that cannot be corrected without removal and reapplication.
- 01
Glass inspection and preparation
All windows are thoroughly cleaned (both inside and outside) to remove contamination, adhesive residue, and any particles that would be trapped under the film. Any existing defects or delamination in the factory glass are identified before installation begins.
- 02
Film cutting and shaping
Film is cut precisely to each window panel. Rear windscreens and complex curved glass require careful shaping and heat forming to achieve a flat, wrinkle-free fitment against the glass curvature.
- 03
Application and squeegee
Film is applied to the interior glass surface using a water solution that allows repositioning before the adhesive sets. Each panel is carefully squeegeed to remove water and ensure full adhesion without bubbles.
- 04
Edge sealing and inspection
All film edges are seated and sealed. The installation is inspected for dust inclusions, lifting edges, or application defects before the vehicle is returned. Any issues are corrected before handover.
- 05
Cure period
Film requires several days to fully cure after installation. During this period, small water pockets or a slight haze in the film is normal (this resolves as the adhesive sets). Windows should not be rolled down for at least 3 to 5 days after installation.
