Correction
Paint Correction Geelong.
Permanent defect removal by machine polishing. Not a filler, not a glaze: actual correction of the clear coat that holds wash after wash.
Why it matters
Swirl marks are permanent. So is the result when you remove them correctly.
Paint correction is the process of removing clear coat defects: swirl marks, fine scratches, water etching, and oxidation. By machine polishing. The result is permanent and does not wash away. It is the only preparation worth doing before ceramic coating, and the most honest transformation available for a vehicle that has lost its depth.
What paint correction actually is
Your vehicle's colour sits beneath a transparent layer of clear coat. That clear coat is what gets scratched, swirled, and oxidised over time. Paint correction is the process of removing a controlled, minimal amount of that clear coat to eliminate the defects living in it.
This is done using machine polishers with progressively finer cutting compounds and polishing pads. Single-stage correction removes the majority of light swirls and haze. Multi-stage correction handles deeper scratches, heavier oxidation, and more complex defect patterns.
What comes out is not a surface that looks better because a glaze is filling the scratches. It is a surface where the scratches no longer exist. That difference matters when you park in direct sunlight, and it matters even more under a ceramic coating.
A glaze hides defects with filler oils that wash out. Correction removes them. The sunlight test will always tell the difference.

Does your vehicle need paint correction?
Paint correction is the right service if:
- Your paint shows swirl marks, spider webbing, or a hazy dullness in direct sunlight
- You drive a dark vehicle (black, dark grey, or dark blue) paint shows defects far more visibly
- You want to apply ceramic coating and want a proper foundation
- You've just bought a new or used vehicle and want to remove dealer prep swirls
- Your car has been washed at an automatic car wash and the damage is visible
- You want to maximise resale presentation before a sale
What changes
Clear coat clarity
Swirl marks and haze are removed, not hidden. The clear coat reflects cleanly instead of scattering light in a spider-web pattern.
Paint depth
The colour beneath the clear coat becomes visible again. Dark vehicles in particular show significant depth improvement.
Permanent result
Machine correction physically removes material. The result does not wash away. It will not reappear after the first rain.
Coating readiness
Corrected paint is the correct foundation for ceramic coating. Coating over defects locks them in permanently.
Inspection documentation
We photograph defects before and after correction in direct light. You receive documentation of what was present and what was removed.
Our correction process
Correction stages are determined after a physical assessment of the paint, not from a photo. We do not quote multi-stage correction for vehicles that only need a single stage.
- 01
Wash and decontamination
Full foam wash, iron fallout decontamination, and clay bar treatment to remove all bonded contamination before polishing begins.
- 02
Paint assessment
We inspect the paint under inspection lighting to identify defect type, depth, and distribution. Paint depth gauge readings are taken to confirm safe material removal.
- 03
Test panel
Before committing to a correction stage, we test on a small panel to confirm the cutting combination achieves the required result safely.
- 04
Machine correction
Correction is completed panel by panel using dual-action or rotary polishers depending on defect severity. More severe defects require heavier cut compounds on earlier passes.
- 05
Refine and finish
Each corrected panel is refined with progressively finer compounds and polishes to achieve maximum clarity before the next step: whether that is a coating or a standalone finish.
- 06
IPA wipe and inspection
All polish oils are removed with isopropyl alcohol. Final inspection confirms defect removal before handover or coating application.
